Although Children’s Centres have no legal status, it is important that governors are aware of where their responsibilities lie when a Children’s Centre is established on a school site. The series of questions and answers below should provide useful background information.

12. Who is responsible for the budget of a Children’s Centre on school premises?
LAs are responsible for the funding of Children’s Centres that they set up. They may delegate budget responsibility to the Centre manager and the management board/governing body.
